National Take Back Initiative
Town Supervisor Paula A. Mahan and Police Chief Steven H. Heider announce that on April 28, 2012, the Colonie Police Department, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will be hosting a National Take Back Day focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from medicine cabinets. On this day, residents will have the opportunity to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and over the counter medication to law enforcement officers for destruction. This effort will also bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Certain restrictions will apply. Please visit the Drug Enforcement Administration's website at www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/index.html for more information. More details to follow.
