Stimulus Funding Update

The Town of Colonie was awarded $661,900.00 in Federal Stimulus money as part of the Federal Recovery Act passed in 2009.  These funds combined with Town funds totaling $338,125.00 were used to replace a boiler at the Colonie Community Center and replace the four heating and air conditioning roof top units at the William K. Sanford Town Library.  As part of our pledge to keep Town Residents informed of the progress on this project you will see an update each quarter on the project and the savings the Town has achieved.

Town Stimulus Update - Ending 4/30/13

Savings:
The Town has realized the following savings to date:

Energy Dollars Saved – this period - $2,584.00 – Project to date - $71,690.00
Electric kWh Saved – 8,192.00 this quarter
Natural Gas Therms saved – 896 this quarter
Green House Gas Emissions Reductions – 7.4 Tons – this quarter

Another measure that Johnson Controls reviewed for the Library is Energy Use Intensity or EUI.  EUI represents the energy consumed by a building relative to its size.  In this case a small number is better.  The National Average for Libraries is an EUI of 250.  For the last year reviewed our Library’s EUI is 112.  So we are doing very well compared to the average.
